The selection method for CCS-I Examination (Group-I Services) includes 3 stages. There would be a preliminary examination. Selected candidates will proceed towards the main exam. All those who clear the main exam will then proceed towards an oral test or an interview. Preliminary would basically be a screening test. On the basis of marks obtained the candidates will move towards the main exam. There are many centers for the preliminary test and Chennai is selected to be the only center for the main exam.

TNPSCCCS-I Examination (Group-I Services) Selection Method
There are 3 main stages of a selection method to get one of the 139 vacancies. 1) The preliminary examination, 2)Main Examination and 3)Oral Test or Interview. Rs.100/- is to be paid for prelims and Rs.200/- is to be paid for mains as a part of examination fees. Applicants selected after the preliminary examination shall only pay the fees for mains.
The date of preliminary examination declared by the regulatory authority is 3rd March 2019. Dates for mains are yet to be announced. TNPSC Group 1 Services Final Scores and Selection
As mentioned above, a screening test/preliminary exam will be the initial stage of selection procedure. Selected candidates will be guided towards mains. A particular cut off will be set for candidates to appear for mains examination. After the mains are conducted, results for the same will be considered for oral test or personal interview.
